SIMPLE FUTURE



Function:
·      To indicate an action that takes place after the act of speaking or writing
Kelvin will watch the movie on television.


Usage:
·    The forms of the simple future tense consist of the modal auxiliary verbs ‘will’ and ‘shall’, and the phrasal modal ‘be going to’. A main verb precedes the modal auxiliary verb or a phrasal modal in a sentence.
·      The simple future tense is used to predict a future situation.
   They will take lunch at the restaurant. They have completed their tasks.
·      Instead of the modal auxiliary verb ‘will’, the modal auxiliary verb ‘shall’ is used for the pronouns ‘I’ and ‘We’.
I shall listen to the speaker.
I will listen to the speaker.
·      The simple future tense that consists of a phrasal modal ‘be going to’ is used to indicate a decision or a plan in future that someone has thought of
Gabriela is going to travel to Australia.




Game:  Dominoes – Will Have, Will Take, Will Go

Introduction:
This game helps students practise the present future tense

Materials:
Word cards to be the dominoes

Preparation:
Make word cards.

Teaching Procedures:
1.  Divide the students into pairs.
2.  Each student takes six dominoes.
3.  The students take turns to match the verb and noun combinations.
4.  When a student matches a combination, they must make a sentence using the two words.
5.  If a student cannot go, the student takes a domino from the pack.  The first student with no cards left is the winner.
